for a friend while visiting California. I'd done quite a few by this point so it shouldn't have been a big deal. After everything was buttoned up we started the car up and heard a faint scraping sound. After poking around we noticed bits of rubber spitting out below the crank sprocket. Turned out I put the concaved washer that fits between the sprocket and the block on backwards and the sharp side was facing the timing belt and was just shaving off slivers and spitting them out. The worst part was that I was flying back home the next day and couldn't help fix my mistake. I feel bad about that to this day.
